For youths interested in aerospace technology and the wonders of flight, the South Dakota School of Mines & Technology was the place to be last Saturday as student members of the Mines Aero Design Team conducted a daylong program.
Kids in KOTA Territory take the time to fly planes to Denver and back reaching heights of 40,000 feet. But don't worry, it's just a simulation. Students in grades 6 - 8 got the chance to spend the day with the School of Mines' Aero Design Team Saturday on the Rapid City campus.

Despite a summery temperature, fall was everywhere at the Great Downtown Pumpkin Festival on Saturday — at least, if you measure it by pumpkins.
There were giant pumpkins at the corner of Seventh and St. Joseph streets; four blocks south were smashing pumpkins -- the squash, not the band -- courtesy of students from South Dakota School of Mines & Technology.
