The South Dakota School of Mines and Technology is dedicated to being a leader in 21^st century education that reflects a belief in the role of engineers and scientists as crucial to the advancement of society. Responding to the unprecedented challenges facing today's world, the School of Mines will seek opportunities to benefit the educational, civic, and economic activities of the community, state, and region. The School of Mines will maintain and expand its role in research, scholarship, and creative endeavors that advance knowledge, solve problems, develop individual potential, and explore the human condition. Through its rigorous academic programs and co-curricular activities, the School of Mines is committed to developing informed and responsible scientists and engineers who behave ethically, value a global perspective, and accept the duties and responsibilities of citizenship.
